Left over Bento stuff for sale!
BENTO #132
Since we're going to have lunch out today, I made a quick fix. Left Bento box contains some yellow Kiwi and some homemade dry crisp bread.
In the right Bento box is some 'Longan' fruit and some baby French beans rolled in cooked salami! Very simple and nondescript!

More sushi!
Tonight, after a long absence, the BEC will savor my signature dish again - SUSHI! The last couple of months have been Chinese food and they've been dropping HEAVY hints about missing my sushi!
Wish I had been a little more tidy with the cutting. If the Japanese Chef who taught me sushi saw the way I cut the sushi, he'd have a heart attack!
*I was rushing, chef, sorry!*
New Bento box?
*******************************************
Some random musings....
When my niece passed this to mum to bring back from Penang, I was quite excited. It looked like a bento box!
Unfortunately, it wasn't, and I was a little disappointed! (Sorry sweet heart, your Aunt is such a bento addict). It turned out to be a box of Japanese biscuits. She'd just returned from a stint in Japan and bought chocolates and these Japanese biscuits for mum to bring back for the cousins.
What a thoughtful thing to do. Not many young people these days 'bother' and it's nice to acknowledge the few who still remember their parents teachings and "P's and Q's".
And did I mention? This thoughtful young lady is on the way to being a doctor? Yeah!

I Feel Okay Tag
From Malaysia's first sci-fi musical entitled "No Limits".
"When I say "I am Catholic" I'm not shouting "I've been saved! "I'm whispering "I get lost - that's why I chose this way. "When I say "I am Catholic" I don't speak with human pride, I'm confessing that I stumble - needing God to be my Guide. When I say "I am Catholic" I'm not trying to be strong, I'm professing that I'm weak and pray for strength to carry on."
"When I say "I am Catholic" I'm not bragging of success, I'm admitting that I've failed and cannot ever pay the debt (The debt of Christ's death on the Cross). When I say "I am Catholic" I don't think I know it all, I submit to my confusion asking humbly to be taught. When I say "I am Catholic" I'm not claiming to be perfect, My flaws are far too visible, but God believes I'm worth it."
"When I say "I am Catholic" I still feel the sting of pain, I have my share of heartache which is why I seek His Name. When I say "I am Catholic" I do not wish to judge, I have no authority - I only know I am loved. "

Let's share what your favourite quote is.
I'd just like to tag Emily.
BENTO #131
It's also #1's favorite and a ham, croissant sandwich is waiting for her to come downstairs to be eaten!
The same goes into #2's box today, a ham, alfalfa and croissant sandwich cut into pieces for easy handling.
I also blanched some vegetables (sawi) and tossed them in garlic oil and shoyu. More fresh white button mushrooms with some sesame seed dressing - yummy! #2 asked to toss the mushrooms in the dressing also for easy eating. She says that it's difficult to mix anything in the box because everything is packed so tight.

BENTO #130
When I passed her the Bento, she happily tucked in as she recounted her experience at camp. We had a good 45 minutes bonding time!
I love this new Bento box from the 100 Yen store. I've been coveting this 'environment friendly' color which I have seen being sold in online Ichiban-kan stores in US.
I absolutely love, love this box!
I packed a little left over of yesterday's fruit salad (notice, the apples didn't turn brown because of the orange juice) and some pineapple ham sandwiched in buttered wholemeal bread.
In the right Bento box is some Kiwi, yellow courgette and some seaweed (kombu and wakame) topped with sesame seed dressing.

BENTO #129
Welcome back sweetheart! I love you!
The left Bento is a mixed fruit salad consisting of orange, green apple, red apple, green Kiwi and Strawberries. Squeezed half an orange and mixed all the fruits up! Fortunately the orange juice was sweet and didn't require any sweetener otherwise I would have added some honey.
The right Bento contains some fresh white button mushrooms wrapped in cooked salami and plastered with some wholegrain mustard - all kept together with some skewers.
In the other half of the box, I added some flavored Korean seaweed with sesame seeds and freshly roasted Cashew nuts.
This will do for a light snack before we go out for dinner and battle with the "Buka Puasa" crowd tonight at "Mum's place" in Damansara Perdana.

Focaccia Bread
I've made Focaccia bread several times and it's turned out really good. Some people has asked for the recipe, here it is:
15g Yeast granules
300 ml lukewarm water
10 ml salt
3 sprigs (or more) fresh rosemary, chopped
90 ml of olive oil
550g bread flour
15 ml coarse sea salt
1. Mix half the lukewarm water with the yeast granules and allow it to froth.
2. Sift flour and salt into a bowl.
3. The recipe recommends to hand knead but I use the Kenwood hook and knead the flour, the frothed yeast, the balance of the water and 3/4 of the olive oil until you get a soft dough.
4. Leave to rise for 2 hours until doubled size.
5. Hand knead and knock back the risen dough, adding in the chopped rosemary.
6. Flatten into an oiled roasting tin approx 10 x 14 inches.
7. Cover with oiled clingwrap and prove until doubled.
8. Press fingertips into the dough to make deep indentations.
9. Cover again and rise until doubled.
10. Pre-heat oven to 220C.
11. Brush over the remaining oil and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
12. Place a tin of hot water in the base of the oven.
13. Bake the bread for 20 minutes until golden.
14. Turn out to cool, but it is best eaten warm.

Bento Party Part 4 - Last lot of pictures
I hope you enjoyed all the 4 parts of the Bento Party updates! Cheers!!
BENTO #129
This morning's bento has a bed of salad sprouts and re-fried chicken bits in potato flour (leftovers I kept from last night's dinner) mixed in kewpie mayo. Some strawberries for fruit.
In the right bento box are some sliced yellow courgette and sauteed sprouts with straw mushrooms, carrots, garlic and oyster sauce. Quite a substantial meal for break time.
#2 has actually stayed away from rice for the last two days! Even at dinner, she avoids it!

Bento Party Part 3
#2 has exams and upcoming events to keep busy for a while to come. Just spent a small fortune on buying new gowns for upcoming events. *faints* Went to the laundry to get the gowns dry cleaned and the girl at the counter was swooning away about how lovely the gowns were. Obviously lah! Cost me an arm and a leg! *faints some more*
I'd like to say here that I'm sorry I haven't replied any of your comments, e-mail, SMS'es and calls because I'm running around like a headless chicken right now!
Please don't stop commenting because this blog author appreciates every one of them!!!! It's just that there are other more pressing issues (e.g. posting more pictures from the Bento Party) and priorities to take care of at this point in time!Anyway, here are the pictures from the Bento Party competition. The first set of pictures are from the Beginner Bento competition section - no accessories. You can see the numbers on the sticker at the side of the Bento Box. The judges did not know who the Bento box belonged to when they judged it.
Emily chose number 18 and it belonged to Evelyn! Congratulations
Coincidently the lucky number that I chose was also number 18 and AMY also got a prize from the lucky draw! Congratulations again!!
********
These Bento boxes were for the Bento competition with accessories.
I judged this event and I chose number 7! I loved the animal theme and the little bear cup cake made by Su Yin matched the theme so well! I'm no Hello Kitty fanatic but I was awed with the soy sauce bottle and animal forks!
This long awaited prize was for Kelly of Kel's place, who won the Bento Competition commemorating my 100th Bento post and Blog anniversary.
There are still random pictures from the Bento Party. I will post them all soon!
