BENTO #96

#2 had a discussion with me after school about how she was putting on weight with all the food I was packing for her. Good gracious! I thought that I was already 'under packing' her food!

Apparently that is not the case. She insisted that she's putting on weight. She is declaring this week a "Fruit and Vegetable" Bento week!!

She's involved with a musical which will be launched next week end and she's already been measured for her costume since April. "Mum, I can't afford to be squeezing into the costume if I've put on weight"! She retorts with a grim face!

What the heck! She's taller than I am and certainly much thinner than many young girls her age. *Screams in my head but grins at #2* (Mum gets into this chilling mode again).
Okay, I'm not going to argue about weight issues with #2. I just need to deal with it more positively.

Sometimes, even #3 will pose in front of the mirror with her bulging belly and ask if she's considered FAT? *sigh*

I
decided to make #2 a fruit salad this morning. I cut up bananas, golden kiwi, apple, orange and strawberries. I squeezed the juice out of an orange, added some honey and some lime juice. It was a lovely and refreshing combination.

The citrus juice helps to keep the fruits from turning brown and gives it a light and refreshing taste.

The Bento box on the right is filled with a croissant cut into three pieces and slathered with Nutella. This is for #3. There is a pack of NIPs, just in case she wants to eat more.

I'm going shopping for salads later.
(My kid's diet has just turned into that of a COW! Moo!)

yummy more bento!
thank you for your nice comment. I only saw it this morning.

We started this blog with a specific purpose. We are glad that many are coming to our site but what we really wanted is for more parents and mothers to read our posts. Thus far there are not many.

As for a book, would be nice. but what will come will come..he he
Thank you for your encouragement. Big Bright Head

big bright head: I'm really happy for you and can many times relate and reminiscence my own relationship with my late father whenever I read your posts.

I think your dad has done well with you leaving you a legacy of life lessons. *salutes*

Hello, thanks again for leaving a comment on my edible gifts as well as on Mia's blog.

As I now also have ADSL/24/7 internet, blogging will be easier.

I will link to your blog in this week, have to do some much needed updating on all the blogs after so many months of not being "present".

I can sympathise with you over the "diet" daughter... mine is getting married in October and it can be quite daunting to prepare healthy meals.

Stay well

I love fruit salad, but will get hungry very fast and start snacking mid afternoon.... haha. Hopefully your daughter has stronger will power. Otherwise it's still better to pack a balanced meal with some complex carbohydrate thrown in.

Elsie: I'm a big fan of your blog. Glad you're blogging again. Congratulations on your daughter's upcoming wedding.

I enjoy packing Bentos for my kids but when they start cutting back on their food consumption, I get upset. Nevertheless, it's a temporary measure so I good about it.

Cheers!!

3lilangels: I make sure she eats a decent breakfast before she goes to school, otherwise the citrus juices may give her a gastric attack.

She was happy with her fruit salad and was controlled with her lunch. This one means business!
